Camo clothes are an important part of successful hunting. The camouflage options a hunter has can be overwhelming as hunting clothes manufacturers introduce new and better camo patterns, stronger, warmer/cooler, more breathable, more waterproof fabrics that are fade resistant, wear longer, and hide you better.

With all these choices, the decision of which camo hunting clothes you need becomes harder to make. Here are some of the best options available.

These ArcticShield Camo Coveralls for men are good for extremely cold weather hunting days. You won’t mind the weather nearly so much if you have these on as your hunting outerwear. They’re also waterproof and that makes them even better.

Everyone should own at least one good set of camo coveralls for hunting. They also come in handy for working outdoors after the weather turns cold and wet.

In the RealTree AP camouflage pattern, this set of coveralls from ArcticShield is a great cold weather set of camo hunting clothes for the avid hunter who doesn’t miss a chance to get out in woods or the field no matter how cold it gets. The decision to hunt no matter what kind of weather you face is often the difference between the casual hunter and the serious hunter. If you want the best chance for a great hunt, and a great trophy, then you have to be willing to go the extra distance–or sit in the cold longer than everyone else.

Under Armour ColdGear Evolution Camo Thermals

L.H. Harvey

Under Armour ColdGear Evolution Shirt Under Armour ColdGear Evolution Leggings

Most people really like the camouflage Under Armour thermal underwear. I do too. They’re a little pricey but you won’t ever be able to say you didn’t get your money’s worth with these undergarments. I’m not the only person who says these items are worth every penny. They fit comfortably, are easy to layer under your other camo hunting clothes, and are high-quality, high-comfort garments. They will definitely keep you warm. Good base layers can make the cold weather so much more bearable and increase your chances of being in the field long enough to get a shot at the deer, or other game, you’re after.

With that in mind, don’t wear these if the temperature is going to be warm or you’ll get too hot in them, but if you expect cool temperatures and don’t want to have to layer on too many outer layers to keep comfortable, then buy a camo Under Armour ColdGear Evolution shirt and Under Armour ColdGear Evolution pants for a complete set of camouflage thermals for the cold weather during the fall and winter hunting seasons.

They’re meant to fit snug so expect that if you buy your normal size. If you buy them too large, you aren’t going to get the same kind of warmth, but you have to decide that based on your comfort level with how you handle snug fitting underclothes.

Both the shirt and underpants are available in the Mossy Oak Break-Up Infinity or RealTree AP camo patterns.

Bass Pro Shops online has the best price and size selection for the pants and shirts: small to 3XL

Camo Jackets for Cold Weather Hunting

L.H. Harvey

Good cold weather camo jackets are essential at this time of year if you want to be able to stay in the field or woods long enough to wait out the game you’re hunting. Cold weather makes hunting uncomfortable, sometimes even unbearable, and we need garments that keeps body heat in and cold out.

Bass Pro Shops has several new jackets, in a variety of hunting camo patterns. You can find most of the camo hunting clothes you need there, from heavy to lightweight cold weather jackets.

Browning 700 Fill Power Down Camo Jacket

The new Browning® 700 Fill Power™ Down Camo Jacket for Men is a great example. This jacket is goose down with a lycra cuff and hem. The “backpack friendly” style means you can access your pockets easily even when you’re wearing your pack.

Because it’s goose down, the Browning 700 Fill Power Down Camo Jacket is lightweight but exceedingly warm, and is a nice compromise between bulk and warmth. The down provides loft and the nylon fabric of this particular camo jacket is a high thread count that has extra baffles that help stop “down migration” and maintain loft.

Breathable and good as a stand alone jacket in dry weather, or as a layer under any Transitions outer shell. Available in the MOSSY OAK BREAK-UP INFINITY camo pattern.

To store, the jacket stuffs into an internal pocket.

Coleman Big Game Jacket

The new Coleman® Big Game Jacket for Men is a quiet and comfortable jacket with plenty of insulation, handwarmer pockets, and a hood. It’s also 100% waterproof and has taped seams. The 280g insulation in the body of the jacket and the 150g in the hood is meant to keep you warm during those cold weather hunts. At the wrist, there are hook and loop cuff adjustments, and an elasticized sweep featuring a cord-lock system to keep drafts away. Over the front zipper, there’s a flap with snaps to keep the full front zipper out of the elements.

The Coleman Big Game Jacket has plenty of pockets: two handwarmer side pockets, a waterproof zippered arm pocket, two upper slit pockets, and two lower pockets with built-in shell loops for ammo.

The body is lined with Polyester Tricot, while the arms and hood are lined with Nylon Taffeta.

Where to Get Quality Camouflage Clothing

L.H. Harvey

The best places online for picking up good pieces of camo are the stores in this list.

You can even pick up some decent pieces at Wal-Mart occasionally, but it’s not my favorite. They’re good about keeping a few pieces of camouflage clothing like jackets, coats, gloves, and coveralls in stock though, so if you need something in a hurry, they’re good in a pinch.

As for brick and mortar stores, I like going to Big Daddy’s, Bass Pro, and Sportsman’s Warehouse when I need to see stuff before I buy it, but most of these places have good return policies, so I don’t worry about it much.

Used Camo Hunting Clothes

Yes, you can get great deals on used camo clothes. I swear I’m not off my rocker on this. Good quality camo makes sense and a good place to get it if you’re a little short on cash is to pick it up used, especially if you’re buying the camo for fast growing juvenile hunters.

Buying used clothes is the best way to get your camo cheap. Especially with children, used camo is a great option. They grow out of their hunting clothes so fast that it can get very expensive to keep them properly dressed for hunting. Look for deals at yard sales, garage sales, estate sales, auctions, consignment shops, children’s used clothing stores, thrift stores, and even on ebay.

I tend to get most of my hunting clothes at Bass Pro because they have good customer service and I like how easy they make it to return stuff if it doesn’t work. They also sell many of the brands I use, even if they don’t have all of them.

Camo Hunting Clothes Are Must Have Apparel

L.H. Harvey

When I hunt, I don’t do it without camo hunting clothes. Some people hunt in whatever they have in their closet and that’s probably fine for them. But if you watch any of the pros, you don’t see guys out in the woods in their jeans and t-shirts. You see hunters dressed to hide. Camouflage clothes of some kind have been used by hunters for thousands of years. The only difference today is that technology has allowed camo creators to make camo so real you can barely even tell there’s a hunter in the woods.

We’ve all seen the videos. Camo works. And serious hunters know it. We use our camouflage hunting clothes, whether it’s grass, timber, realtree, mossy oak, or even blaze, and we take down animals we would never have been able to get close enough to kill without them.

So you might be wondering what a site about camo hunting clothes is going to be about—what I’ll be able to say about the camo clothes, I mean, because I’m sure you know I’m going to be talking about camo clothes and how they relate to hunting—and why I even bothered to put up this site.

Frankly, it’s because I like camo a lot, and there’s a lot to say about it. Your camo is only as good as your care of it. If you don’t treat your camouflage clothing right then it’s not going to do you much good when you get it out in the woods (or wherever it is you’re hunting).

Camouflage hunting clothes are meant to keep you invisible from the game animals you’re tracking. You can’t stay invisible if your camo clothes are loaded with ultraviolet dyes from regular detergents, nor can you stay invisible or properly camouflaged if your camo is covered with human scents.

So, those are what I’ll be going on about on this site. Camo is versatile, durable, and cool to wear. Put on a camo t-shirt, some camo pants, and a good-fittin’ camo hat, and let’s go get some supper. Hell, go ahead and throw on those camo boots while you’re at it. Your momma wouldn’t want you to get to the table half-dressed. (Might want to take that cap off before you say Grace though.)
