You can get snow patterns too for areas of the country that have a lot of snow during the hunting seasons. What Camo Hunting Gloves Should You Wear in Cold Weather?

L.H. Harvey

I don’t think I have to explain why you need a good pair of camo hunting gloves. You need to keep your fingers warm because if you don’t, you might not be able to make the best shot when the time comes and take down the game you’re hunting.

Having to explain that the reason you couldn’t make the shot was because your fingers were numb is as embarrassing as having to admit you didn’t have your scent under control and the deer scented you out before you could get off your shot.

What Hunting Gloves to Wear in Cold Weather

Camo Liner Gloves

Start with a liner glove when there is cold weather. Wear it under your regular hunting gloves and you’ll keep your fingers and hands much warmer. Liner gloves are usually thin, so you can maintain your dexterity. This is good because if you need to do something that requires fine motor skills and you have to take off your outer gloves, your skin is still protected from the cold and you don’t lose all the heat it takes so long to build up sometimes when it’s really, really cold outside.

Outer Hunting Gloves

Next, get a good pair of cold weather hunting gloves to wear over your liner gloves. The thing about liner gloves is that they’re usually thin and tight, so that they interfere with your grip and movements as little as possible. Other hunting gloves, on the other hand, are meant to keep you warm, especially while you’re sitting, maybe in a blind or a tree stand, and maintaining a silent stalker position so you don’t spook off the game you’re hunting, like that trophy deer you don’t want to miss this year!

With that in mind, the hunting gloves are going to be thick and bulky and often impede your ability to do anything that requires precise finger movements, like mess with clips, buckles, or safety harnesses.

Wearing liner gloves under those bulky hunting gloves is a great way to keep warm and still have the ability to do anything you need to do without having to take off all your glove layers entirely. Liner gloves come in camouflage colors so you really are at an advantage. You can also were your camo liner gloves when you hunt during warm weather without an outer glove. This makes camo liner glove a great accessory to have in your hunting gear arsenal.

Under Armour makes really great gloves for hunters and sportsmen, with a focus on keeping things light and thin while providing warmth and protection for hunters and sportsmen.

What Kind of Cold Weather Hunting Glove to Wear

Your hunting glove can be of several varieties. It really just depends on what kind of glove you like best. Some people prefer the mitt type gloves because you can fold back the portion that covers the fingers and use your fingers for a variety of precision tasks. Other hunters prefer a standard five-fingered glove. Decide if you need waterproof or wind-resistant gloves for where you’ll be hunting, and choose accordingly. Finally, the one option you do need in the cold weather is insulated hunting gloves. The insulation provides all the warmth and protection you need to keep your fingers nice and toasty.

Here are some excellent suggestions for you to consider for your next pair of camo hunting gloves. Or do what I do and buy several pairs so you have something for any weather condition you could meet up with.

Almost all hunting gloves come in at least one camouflage pattern, the most popular camo choices being Mossy Oak Break-Up and RealTree AP. Some hunters’ camouflage gloves are available in even more camo patterns, including blaze orange.
